A stop at India International Centre..

Well..this one is going to be interesting. Movies and food. Two of my favourites. And food, ya, it has taken me to places. From the Khan Chacha's seekh kababs in Khan Market , a few walks away from my home to the heavily congested lanes, popularly called "paranthe waali gali", selling what else but parathas-you not only get to relish the cuisines these places are so famous for, but in the process, visit them, see the people around eating (and probably wasting!) and much more.
My father told me in the morning about the dinner, to be hosted by our family friends in India International Centre(IIC). Came evening, and we set off for our destination.Wo!.
As we just entered the lounge , I actually got the appetizer for what all is in store for me for the rest of the evening. M S Gill-the sports minister was here with his family. As we managed to reach the table waiting for us, I noticed that the table next to it was occupied by my English teacher at school, and her husband. Great feeling, isn't it?.But, the sad part is she obviously didn't remember me. Never mind! As we waited for the food to arrive(there were some dishes we had ordered, but let's not get into the menu, because food isn't all that important here), the table just in front of us got occupied by four interesting ladies. Interesting, not exactly, but definitely worth holding my attention. Ok, let's get down to the one right in my view and generalize about the other three (fair, since by what I could hear from their conversation , I assumed they were pretty much alike , almost cast out of the same die!) . White shiny hair. No bindi. And a cotton sari so carelessly draped around -it looked like a morning bed sheet. Yes, welcome to the Delhi's intellect junta. They might be some professor in a JNU campus, critics of some creative work or simply just part of a seminar on Russian Arts & culture. No shiny lip-gloss, no false eyelashes, no gelled hair, and definitely no designer wear. But pure, polish impeccable English that would put a David Beckham to shame!.Ya,all this and more. That's the intellectual Delhi for me as against the posh, wealthy, showy Delhi that most of us already know. As we were wrapping up our dinner, I saw more of those kind around. The food-couldn't be better but the ambience-that was an experience!
